If you are a composer, sounds always bother you like you are always in labor. I had sounds in my head, but I did not have piano to share with. First time when I saw the Sherman Clay store in downtown of Seattle, it was like finding a dream. Through windows of Sherman Clay store, pianos were sparkling, promising me the hope into the paradise of sounds. Thanks to the local composer who introduced me to the sales person. I was not able to buy a grand piano. Their prices were not for a newcomer. For me was found a used piano. Sherman Clay store donated it to me!!! I was not lonely anymore. That instrument I tuned only once. The timbre is so tender, but when you need a thunder it will give you all tunes of tsunami. I am very proud of it/her/him/.
Acoustic musical instruments are unique. They have their own voice, character, their own life. They are sensitive to our emotions. Our touches they transfer into nuances. This piano from Sherman Clay store shared with me my symphonies, poems. The last of my works oratorio “Kain” in 2012 was performed in my native town Kazan which is considered the third musical town in Russia after Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. I had a great success, which was possible thanks to the piano from Sherman Clay store. My way to learn English language was collecting lullabies from Americans. When I got 300 lullabies I started to talk fluently in English. As a result of this common work with my piano (it helped me to transcribe lullabies) I published 2 CDs - “Seattle Sings World Lullabies” and “Lord Blow the Moon out”.
I wanted to give back this piano to Sherman Clay store that they could donate to somebody who is desperate to have a piano. I googled Sherman Clay and found they are closing. How pity!
